Central Synagogue has a strong community of families with young children who get together on a regular basis to worship or participate in activities as a group. Young Families Together is dedicated to creating events and experiences that are interesting to and meet the needs of families (both in the synagogue and in the community) with children (from newborn through college). Young Families Together is a way of creating deeper connections to one another through social and holiday activities.
Activities organized by Young Families Together have included:
- Monthy Young Family Shabbat services
- The very popular Bagel Babies Mommy & Me group
- Havurah Shabbat Dinner
- Havdallah at the Beach
- Gin-and-Tonic-ah (an adults only Hanukkah party)
- Trip to Jewish Children’s Museum
- Fall Family Festival
- Chocolate Passover Seder

Central Synagogue loves youngsters and children are always welcomed and encouraged to attend services. One Saturday morning on most months, children up to age 6 and their parents meet at 10:00am in the Men's Club Lounge for Young Family Shabbat with a fun morning of songs, movement, stories, prayers and snack. Children's Services during the High Holidays are always interactive and fun with prayers, music and storytime. A highlight of this service is when everyone takes turns carrying a Torah during the hakafah parade.
Central Synagogue is proud to participate in thePJ Library® program. PJ Library®, sends the gift of free, high-quality Jewish books every month to families raising Jewish children ages six months through eight years. In addition, the program sponsors a variety of programs throughout the year including story times and holiday celebrations.
